Job summary

Redwood Materials is assembling an engineering team to design and develop Battery Energy Storage System projects, starting from concept and interconnection screening to a buildable electrical package. This Senior/Staff role focuses on early front-end design and establishing the Basis of Design for scalable energy storage implementations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program (M.S. a plus).
• 5+ years (Senior), 8+ years (Staff) in battery energy storage, solar, or microgrid projects, including front-end and conceptual design.
• PE License (Electrical) preferred.
• Deep understanding of grid-scale energy storage and electrical balance-of-plant equipment and AC/DC power conversion.
• Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ETAP or SKM) and ability to produce concept layouts quickly.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical and controls front-end scope for early-phase pursuits, coordinating across teams and EPC partners.
• Build scalable electrical scoping practices and reusable architectures for projects.
• Develop concept and preliminary electrical designs - site layouts, single-line diagrams, and controls network architecture.
• Perform screening-level power system studies to size major equipment and define study scope.
• Support early utility and interconnection strategy and translate into the design basis.
• Establish electrical code and standards basis and document the compliance framework for detailed design.
• Drive the electrical information-request checklist to closure and surface long-lead items.
• Establish the electrical Basis of Design and design criteria for hand-off to detailed design.
