Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in the United States to serve as the technical leader for electrical design across its product portfolio. This senior IC role focuses on power systems, electrical design, and standards compliance, guiding architecture decisions and mentoring teams within the Hardware Engineering group.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (MS/PhD).
• 10–15+ years in electrical systems analysis, energy storage, or industrial applications.
• Expert knowledge of power systems analysis, protection schemes, grounding/bonding, EMI and overvoltage.
• Ability to produce and review SLDs, schematics, and electrical specifications.
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and UL standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for electrical system design across product lines.
• Lead electrical architecture design including power distribution, protection coordination, grounding strategy, surge protection.
• Support verification through design standards, specs, and review frameworks (NFPA/IEEE/UL).
• Establish verification methods to demonstrate compliance (analytical, simulation, testing).
• Perform and review calculations: load flow, short circuit, arc flash, EMI, surge studies.
• Lead design reviews and root cause analyses for new and field issues.
• Compile and validate product technical information packages (SLDs, specs, compliance).
• Recommend vendors, components, and design approaches for key electrical equipment.
• Mentor and develop senior/mid-level engineers across Hardware Engineering.
