Job summary

GEUS seeks an experienced Managerial Electrical Engineer to lead a team of engineers and drive electric utility planning, design, and construction support. You will ensure safe, reliable operation and maintain standards for transmission, distribution, substation, and generation projects.

You will coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and regulators, oversee budgets, and guide technical directions while promoting safety and compliance across GEUS facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; ability to obtain Texas P.E. license within 6 months
• Minimum of six years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience in the electric utility industry
• Demonstrated technical competency in electric utility related functions
• Excellent analytical, computational, and problem‑solving skills
• Demonstrated leadership ability involving project management, multi‑tasking, coaching, decision‑making, staff development, and cross‑department coordination
• Proficiency with NESC, NEC, safety rules, and utility construction standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and utility‑specific analysis software for system modeling and design
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, management, customers, and regulators

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical SME and department manager, balancing hands‑on analysis with supervision and staff development
• Manage Engineering Department personnel, set priorities, coach performance, and drive process improvements
• Develop and apply engineering standards, criteria, procedures, and reference materials
• Collaborate with peers to maximize workflow and ensure technical compliance with standards
• Assist with budgeting, scopes of work, cost estimates, and procurement
• Coordinate work by consultants, contractors, and vendors to meet schedule and budget
• Support engineering models, GIS, SCADA, and other systems for planning and operations
• Manage and assist in plant additions (transmission, substation, distribution) and generation matters
• Support Operations during storms, outages, and restoration with technical analysis and switching
• Develop and revise construction standards, drawings, and documentation
• Communicate with customers, developers, and regulators on service requests and requirements
• Maintain compliance with GEUS safety rules and regulatory standards
