Job summary

McGraw Hill is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer for 6-12 ELA (Project Status) to design digital curricula and collaborate across UX, engineering, and product teams. This remote, fixed-term role through August 2027 focuses on accessibility, strong documentation, and cross-functional execution to deliver high-quality learning experiences for K-12 literacy programs.

Ideal candidates bring 5-10 years in digital instructional design or eLearning, and hold a relevant degree.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in digital instructional design, curriculum development, or eLearning development.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field.
• Experience designing for digital platforms with authoring tools, LMS, and CMS.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and universal design for learning (UDL).
• Proficiency with Agile workflows and collaborative team environments.
• Ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving with product, UX, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design digital curriculum using UbD, backward design, and design thinking principles.
• Develop prototypes, POCs, and digital content tools with SMEs and technical support.
• Lead build rounds, manuscript reviews, and storyboarding.
• Write and maintain clear, user-centered product requirement documents.
• Apply accessibility best practices in content and tools.
• Collaborate with content, UX, technology, engineering, and product teams to craft engaging learning experiences.
• Support Agile workflows through iterative feedback, sprints, and testing.
• Translate instructional needs into technical requirements for tools and features.
• Coordinate cross-functional workflows to meet timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Provide informal training and mentorship to other instructional designers and new joiners.
• Act as point of contact for vendors with guidance and decision-making support.
• Create and maintain documentation for digital workflows and guidelines.
• Identify and scale novel digital learning approaches with measurable impact.
