Job summary

Piper Companies seeks an EKS Security Engineer to harden Amazon EKS clusters and implement cloud-native security across AWS infrastructure in the Raleigh area. You will assess configurations, enforce RBAC, network policies, and baseline security controls while collaborating with DevOps and platform teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in cloud or Kubernetes security, hands-on EKS experience, and relevant certifications. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud security, infrastructure security, or Kubernetes security engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience securing Amazon EKS and Kubernetes environments.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, RBAC, admission controllers, network policies, and container security best practices.
• Experience implementing security controls within AWS, including IAM, VPCs, Security Groups, KMS, CloudTrail, and related services.
• Knowledge of CIS Benchmarks and NIST security hardening standards.

Responsibilities

• Assess, configure, and harden Amazon EKS clusters to align with security standards.
• Conduct security reviews of Kubernetes environments, including RBAC and network policies.
• Implement and maintain security controls across AWS services supporting Kubernetes workloads.
• Identify vulnerabilities and drive remediation in containerized environments.
• Partner with platform, DevOps, and cloud teams to establish secure deployment standards.
• Develop and maintain security baselines, policies, and governance for EKS.
• Monitor cluster security posture and support incident response and threat detection.
