Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in the Seattle area to lead transformative safety initiatives for technology and biopharma clients. You will drive safety program development, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, while mentoring a team of consultants and expanding client relationships.

The role requires 6+ years of EHS experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven project leadership.

Qualifications

• Must have Bachelor or Master in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or related science.
• 6+ years of relevant EHS experience, ideally within technology, biopharma, manufacturing, or energy sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Washington, Oregon, and federal EHS regulations.
• Ability to manage projects, budgets, and teams.
• General safety experience with strong knowledge of OSHA requirements.
• Demonstrated expertise in hazard recognition, JHA, emergency planning, risk assessments, incident response and investigations, machine guarding, chemical and electrical safety/LOTO, regulatory compliance, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and improve safety programs addressing audits, risk reduction, lab and industrial safety, and NFPA 70E.
• Conduct JHA, risk assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, and EHS assessments across client environments to evaluate OSHA compliance.
• Support client safety performance through training, field coaching, safety walks, drills, and investigations.
• Analyze safety data and deliver clear reports with actionable insights to reduce hazards and improve compliance.
• Serve as a trusted safety advisor for labs, facilities, or programs and recommend practical controls to EHS leadership.
• Develop compliance procedures, permits, permits, and risk management systems to support safe operations.
• Build client relationships, deliver exceptional service, and identify new business opportunities through proposals and advisory support.
• Lead large-scale safety programs and multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating across ERM’s global network.
