The EHS Senior Specialist supports the Madison site by developing and improving occupational health and safety programs, conducting audits, investigations, training, and ensuring regulatory compliance across environmental, health and safety areas. This role partners with site leadership to promote a strong safety culture, implement corrective actions, and maintain robust EHS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in an EHS role, preferably in R&D/lab/manufacturing/biotech.
• Strong biosafety and chemical safety knowledge in a research setting.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver effective EHS training.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities with good judgment.
• Proficiency with standard business software including MS Office.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS systems, programs, and procedures to prevent injuries, reduce unsafe conditions, and improve site safety.
• Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Conduct facility audits, surveys, and inspections for environmental and safety hazards and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain EHS records and support regulatory reporting.
• Assist with risk assessments for processes, equipment, chemicals, and PPE.
• Support hazardous chemical and biological waste management activities.
• Develop and deliver EHS training, focusing on lab safety, chemical safety, biosafety, and injury prevention.
• Monitor contractors for safety compliance and participate in projects involving new equipment and PPE assessments.
