Job summary

AbbVie Worcester site seeks a Senior EHS Specialist to lead the site’s occupational/industrial hygiene program for Operations and Process Development labs, providing technical EHS support for lab safety. The ideal candidate has strong lab and chemical safety experience and a background in industrial hygiene.

Responsibilities include developing EHS programs, conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and ensuring regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvements

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering with 3–5 years of related industry experience.
• Experience in process safety and process safety management systems is required.
• PHA training or experience is an advantage.
• Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical settings is preferred.
• Experience working in a regulatory environment is required.
• Proven ability to build relationships with internal/external stakeholders and negotiate effectively.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS programs, training, and policies to reduce incidents and ensure compliance.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative occupational hygiene risk assessments and exposure monitoring.
• Develop sampling strategies, technical reports, and recommendations to reduce risk.
• Perform ergonomic assessments and process design risk reviews with risk reduction.
• Develop and deliver occupational hygiene and ergonomics training.
• Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and company EHS requirements.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in process safety reviews and risk assessments for lab and process safety risks.
• Support and implement EHS improvement projects.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant policies and regulations.
• Identify and promote process improvements to strengthen EHS performance.
