Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Director of Environmental Health and Safety to lead global EHS strategy, drive regulatory compliance, risk management, and incident prevention across manufacturing sites and corporate facilities.

You will develop and mentor EHS professionals, partner with senior leaders to embed safety and sustainability into operations, manage budgets, and lead international travel to ensure consistent global performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering, environmental, occupational safety, or Industrial hygiene is required.
• 15+ years of EHS experience with at least 10 years in supervisory/managerial roles.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and working in a global, matrix organization.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for EHS performance, compliance, and risk management across a global business area.
• Lead development and execution of innovative EHS programs to prevent incidents and strengthen regulatory compliance.
• Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into business strategy and daily activities.
• Build organizational capability by mentoring site and above-site EHS professionals and leading a global team.
• Staffing, mentoring, and developing EHS professionals to ensure compliance across locations.
