Job summary

Amazon Robotics’ EHS team is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to provide technical safety leadership across innovation and manufacturing domains. This role coordinates with internal and external partners to identify, mitigate, and manage risk per regulatory and industry standards.

Responsibilities include establishing safety requirements for labs and production systems, driving a risk-based safety roadmap, and leading safety analyses such as FMEA/HAZOP for complex automated systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or Systems Engineering preferred.
• Strong knowledge of safety risk assessment methodologies (FMEA/FTA/HAZOP).
• Experience with ISO 12100, ISO 13849, NFPA 79 and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Establish and communicate safety requirements for Innovation, R&D labs, and manufacturing systems based on standards.
• Develop safety and compliance roadmaps for R&D and production systems and align stakeholders on safety goals.
• Lead safety analyses and ensure safe design for robotics and automated systems across build, test, and production phases.
• Investigate incidents with EHS teams and develop mitigation strategies to prevent recurrence.
• Build and maintain a safety culture that supports safe and compliant product development.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering

Safety risk assessment

ISO 12100 / ISO 13849 / NFPA 79 knowledge

CSP / CMSE / Functional Safety certs

OSHA standards knowledge
