Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to support AR’s EHS team, driving safety leadership across innovation and production systems. You will establish safety requirements, lead risk analyses for robotics, and partner with multiple internal teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, and NFPA standards.

The role involves incident investigation, roadmap development, and cross-site coordination to enable safe, scalable automation solutions. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
• Deep knowledge of safety risk assessment methodologies (Machinery Safety ISO 12100, Functional Safety ISO 13849, Electrical Safety IEC 60204, NFPA 79).
• Experience with international safety standards (EU Machinery Directive, ISO/IEC, NFPA, OSHA).
• Experience with structured safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP).
• Experience integrating safety requirements into product/system design and cross-site coordination.
• Experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1910, RCRA, regulatory reporting, and Industrial Hygiene practices.
• Experience with digital safety management platforms and data-driven EHS programs.

Responsibilities

• Establish and communicate safety requirements for R&D labs and manufacturing systems.
• Develop safety/compliance roadmaps balancing safety, cost, and maintainability.
• Lead safety analyses and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, ISO, NFPA).
• Investigate incidents with cross-functional teams and propose mitigation.
• Develop risk analysis approaches for robotics and automated systems.
• Foster a safety culture among engineering teams for safe, compliant products.
