Job summary

Abbott in North Chicago is seeking a Principal Specialist EHS & Projects to drive the EHS strategy and execute major projects. You will lead site EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, perform risk assessments, audits, and investigations, and advance capital and facilities initiatives with cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive EHS experience, and the ability to coordinate contractors and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, occupational health, engineering, science, nursing or closely related discipline required.
• Minimum 8 years of significant EHS and/or operational experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve site EHS programs and compliance systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate EHS requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Develop and implement EHS strategies, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage regulatory inspections, audits, and external EHS relationships.
• Lead capital and facilities projects from planning through execution and completion.
