Job summary

HTI is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to own the environmental, health, and safety programs for a 24/7 wood-based material plant in Mount Gilead, NC. This site leadership role reports to the Site Manager and will lead one direct report while partnering with operations and engineering.

Qualified candidates have 8–10 years in EHS with 3–5 years of management, strong OSHA expertise, and a track record of implementing practical safety programs and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health, occupational health, engineering, or related field.
• 8–10 years of EHS or safety experience, including 3–5 years of management experience.
• Hands-on EHS in a 24/7 manufacturing environment; wood/paper/chemical industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own site safety, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, fire protection and emergency preparedness programs.
• Develop and improve site safety programs with input from front-line employees and plant leaders.
• Maintain air quality, wastewater, permits, inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, audits, training, regulatory reporting, and corrective-action follow‑through.
• Build systems to track actions, metrics, training, inspections, and compliance requirements.
• Coach leaders and employees on safe work practices and establish accountability for EHS actions.
