Job summary

Leggett & Platt, Inc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support four facilities in Western Michigan.

You will drive regulatory compliance, strengthen safety performance, and foster a proactive safety culture across the Work Furniture business. You will lead investigations, coordinate training, and collaborate with Operations, Engineering, HR, Legal, and external agencies to meet environmental and safety objectives.

Qualifications

5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA requirements and environmental compliance regulations
Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses
Ability to travel regularly between facilities in Western Michigan

Responsibilities

Support EHS programs across four manufacturing facilities in Western Michigan
Partner with site leadership to improve safety performance and regulatory compliance
Conduct facility inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and compliance reviews
Lead or support incident investigations and corrective action implementation
Develop practical solutions to reduce risk and prevent incidents
Ensure compliance with OSHA/MIOSHA, EPA, EGLE, NFPA, and other regulations
Assist with environmental programs including waste, air, water, and stormwater
Develop and support emergency response plans and drills
Coordinate EHS training programs for new hires and site staff
Coach leaders on hazard recognition and safety communication
Monitor and report EHS performance metrics and corrective actions
Support corporate EHS programs and standards
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, Legal, and external agencies
