Job summary

Biovire in Brighton, MI is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to build and advance the Environmental, Health & Safety Management System and strengthen proactive risk identification and sustainable safety performance. This senior, individual-contributor role partners with leaders to translate regulatory requirements into practical solutions.

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering, you will lead audits, training, and safety forums, shaping the long-term EHS

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
6+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
Experience with hazardous materials management and OSHA recordkeeping.
Experience leading audits, investigations, and training.
Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and project management.

Responsibilities

Grow and improve Biovire's Environmental, Health & Safety Management System.
Set long-term EHS strategy, annual roadmap, objectives, priorities, and KPIs.
Advise on regulatory requirements and practical risk-reduction strategies.
Establish ownership and resources for EHS decisions and corrective actions.
Strengthen safety culture and employee engagement through programs and initiatives.
Develop, implement, and improve EHS programs, procedures, standards, and training.
Manage environmental permits, regulatory reporting, and safety data management.
Lead site Waste Management and hazardous/non-hazardous waste handling.
Oversee hazardous waste characterization, storage, shipment, and disposal.
Plan and conduct EHS inspections and track findings and corrective actions.
Lead Safety Committee and coordinate EHS communications.
Investigate incidents and environmental events; perform root-cause analysis.
Design EHS training, train-the-trainer programs, and job aids.
Support emergency preparedness, drills, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, HR, and others to integrate EHS into daily work.
Coordinate third-party EHS consultants and regulatory inspections.
Monitor EHS performance, communicate risks, and drive improvements.
