Job summary

Nesco Resource in Lafayette, IN seeks a Lead EHS Specialist to implement and manage environmental health and safety initiatives across manufacturing and lab operations. This role requires strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and a proven ability to collaborate with operations and engineering to resolve issues.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's in EHS and 5+ years of experience, is self-motivated, capable of managing multiple projects, and willing to travel 10-15% occasionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in EHS or related field.
• Ability to interpret regulations and implement requirements.
• Knowledge of hydrogen and other flammable chemicals; broad safety program background.
• Strong training development and delivery skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor EHS activities with the operations team.
• Complete routine safety inspections and maintain records.
• Deliver training to employees including EHS new hire orientation.
• Coordinate training and licenses for cranes and forklifts.
• Complete JSAs for new equipment and processes.
• Collaborate with supervisors to document PPE assessments.
• Participate in incident investigations and ensure incident management system is current.
• Track investigations and run trend reports.
• Maintain chemical inventory and SDS system accessibility.
• Establish Chemical Hygiene Plan for lab spaces where applicable.
• Participate in daily operation meetings and Gemba walks.
• Communicate EHS improvements to cross-functional teams.
