Job summary

Mergon in Anderson, SC seeks an HSE & Facilities Operations Manager to architect safety and compliance, lead teams, and optimize facilities performance in a high‑throughput plastics operation.

You will mature the site safety program toward ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, oversee OSHA/EPA compliance, manage air permits, SPCC, Tier II, and waste programs, and drive energy and waste reduction while guiding audits and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and maturing EHS programs toward ISO 14001/45001.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/EPA compliance and risk assessment methods.
• Proven track record in incident investigations and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Design and mature the site EHS program toward ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
• Safeguard compliance and business continuity through policy development and performance targets.
• Lead risk assessments (JHA, PHA, machine guarding, LOTO, confined space, hot work, ergonomics, chemical handling).
• Lead internal audits and management reviews; oversee corrective actions.
• Chair the Safety Committee; oversee safety observations and near-miss reporting.
• Coordinate IH monitoring (noise, dust, fumes) and training.
• Oversee facilities maintenance and third-party contracts; ensure fire and building codes compliance.
• Prepare monthly EHS and facilities performance updates for leadership.
