Job summary

WSP USA in the Northeast seeks an Assistant Vice President to lead Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance programs from Shelton or Glastonbury, CT, with flexibility for other Northeast offices. This seasoned professional will independently manage complex projects, advise clients, and mentor junior staff while driving business growth.

You will work closely with regional and national leaders across industrial, commercial, energy, and infrastructure sectors, delivering strategic compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 7 to 15+ years of progressive experience in environmental compliance consulting or industry.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. EPA regulations and Northeast state programs (CT, MA, NY, RI, NH, ME, VT).
• Proven experience managing projects and client relationships.
• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-media environmental compliance programs as technical lead.
• Manage projects involving air, water, waste, stormwater, SPCC, EPCRA, TRI, RCRA, TSCA and state programs.
• Interpret regulations with emphasis on Northeast frameworks.
• Prepare regulatory reports, permits, compliance plans, and corrective actions.
• Interface with clients and agencies, including inspections prep.
• Lead proposals, scope, cost estimating, and work planning.
• Support business development and client opportunities.
• Provide mentoring and quality reviews for junior staff.
• Meet utilization targets while maintaining high client service standards.
