Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist / Environmental Scientist to join our Northeast Region, including New York City and surrounding offices. You will conduct field audits, ESA work, and inspections, while developing environmental compliance programs and EMS-related support.

The role requires 5+ years of regulatory experience, ISO 14001 knowledge, and travel up to 50%. Strong reporting and communication skills are essential to collaborate with the Earth & Environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Engineering, Earth Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• 5+ years of experience working knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS guidance.
• Must pass a HAZWOPER physical and wear a tight-fitting respirator.
• Experience with evaluating/maintaining environmental regulatory compliance in industrial settings.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Travel up to 50% of the time; willingness to trips on short notice; overnight travel required.
• Strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field assignments such as environmental compliance audits, Phase 1 ESAs, and environmental inspections.
• Provide compliance program support including procedures, permits, regulatory reports, and training.
• Develop EMS program support including development and auditing.
• Prepare written and verbal reports, audits, investigations, data interpretation, and visual data presentation.
• Manage projects to meet scope, budget, and deadlines.
• Assist in managing and developing client relationships; maintain quality control.
