The Senior EHR Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration, support, optimization, and ongoing development of Premium Health's electronic health record environment, with a primary focus on eClinicalWorks (eCW). This role serves as a senior internal subject matter expert and a key liaison among Information Technology, clinical teams, operations, finance, quality, and external vendors. The Senior EHR Specialist ensures that EHR-related issues are resolved efficiently, system changes are carefully tested and documented, and workflows support safe, effective, and consistent patient care across Premium Health's multi-site, multi-specialty organization.
This is a hands-on, on-site role that supports daily operations as well as organizational growth, including new locations, new service lines, acquisitions, provider onboarding, system upgrades, and workflow redesign. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly analytical, service-oriented, and able to translate operational and clinical needs into sustainable EHR solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the senior point of contact for eClinicalWorks and related EHR applications, providing hands-on support to clinical, operational, administrative, and revenue cycle users across the organization.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex EHR issues involving user access, scheduling, registration, clinical documentation, orders, results, referrals, tasking, patient communications, billing workflows, and other system functionality.
- Manage and prioritize EHR support requests, identify root causes, communicate status and resolution expectations, and elevate issues to vendors or consultants when necessary.
- Evaluate current workflows and partner with department leaders and end users to design, configure, test, and implement efficient, standardized, and scalable EHR processes.
- Configure and maintain templates, forms, alerts, favorites, order sets, user settings, security roles, dictionaries, and other system components in accordance with approved workflows and governance standards.
- Support the implementation of new departments, service lines, providers, locations, and organizational expansion projects by gathering requirements, coordinating build activities, completing testing, and providing go-live support.
- Coordinate EHR upgrades, patches, new modules, and system enhancements, including release review, risk assessment, test planning, user acceptance testing, deployment, validation, and post-implementation support.
- Collaborate with IT and operational leadership on user provisioning, role-based access, onboarding, transfers, and offboarding to ensure appropriate system access and compliance with privacy and security requirements.
- Maintain productive relationships with eClinicalWorks, external consultants, interface partners, and other technology vendors; track open issues, manage escalations, and ensure timely follow-through on deliverables.
- Support and monitor interfaces and integrations with laboratories, pharmacies, imaging vendors, registries, patient engagement tools, and other third-party systems, working with technical partners to resolve errors and maintain continuity.
- Developand maintain operational reports, dashboards, and data extracts as needed,while supporting data integrity, standardization, and reliable reporting acrossdepartments.
- Create and maintain clear system documentation, configuration records, workflow maps, test scripts, training materials, tip sheets, and issue-resolution procedures.
- Deliver training and ongoing education for new and existing employees through individual coaching, group sessions, office hours, and go-live support; reinforce adoption of approved workflows and system best practices.
- Monitor system use, recurring issues, user feedback, and adoption trends to identify opportunities for optimization, risk reduction, and improved efficiency.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and committees, providing EHR expertise, project coordination, requirements analysis, implementation planning, and progress updates.
- Support downtime planning, business continuity, incident response, and recovery activities related to the EHR and connected applications.
- Maintain current knowledge of eClinicalWorks functionality, healthcare technology developments, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices through vendor resources, conferences, and ongoing professional development.
- Provide on-site support at assigned Premium Health locations and travel to other sites as needed; provide limited after-hours support for scheduled upgrades, go-lives, or urgent system issues when required.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the Information Technology department and Premium Health's clinical and operational goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in health information technology, health informatics, information systems, computer science, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Five to eight years of progressive experience supporting, administering, implementing, or optimizing an electronic health record system in an ambulatory healthcare environment.
- Advanced experience with eClinicalWorks strongly preferred. Candidates with significant experience on another enterprise EHR platform may be considered with a demonstrated ability and willingness to complete eCW-specific training.
- Experience supporting a multi-site, multi-specialty medical organization, Federally Qualified Health Center, community health center, or similarly complex ambulatory environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of clinical and operational workflows, including patient access, scheduling, registration, clinical documentation, orders and results, referrals, patient communications, and revenue cycle processes.
- Demonstrated experience with EHR configuration, workflow design, testing, upgrades, troubleshooting, reporting, interfaces, user security, training, and implementation support.
- Strongproject management and organizational skills, with the ability to managemultiple priorities, track dependencies, meet deadlines, and maintain clear documentation.
- Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify rootcauses, evaluate risk, and develop sustainable solutions rather than temporary workarounds.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical providers, operational leaders, support staff, executives, vendors, and technical teams.
- Ability to translate technical information into clear, practical guidance for non-technical users and to translate business and clinical needs into system requirements.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy, information security, access controls, and healthcare data confidentiality requirements.
- Strong customer-service orientation, sound judgment, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on site and travel between Premium Health locations as needed. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for scheduled upgrades, implementations, or urgent support needs.
Compensation:
$110,000-$130,000 per year, commensurate with experience
