Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services seeks a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to lead EH&S programs across a multi-site network, partnering with Operations, Fleet and site leadership to strengthen safety and regulatory compliance.

Roles include leading audits, investigations, training design, data reporting, and continuous improvement, with mentorship for junior staff and travel to company locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
• 5–7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and environmental regulations; experience with hazardous waste programs.
• Professional certification such as CSP, ASP, OSHA 30-hour General Industry, or HAZWOPER preferred.
• Ability to mentor others and lead cross-functional projects with minimal oversight.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance efforts with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, CDC, and state regulations across multiple sites.
• Design and lead safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; manage risk-mitigation and corrective actions.
• Investigate workplace injuries, vehicle accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents; perform root cause analysis.
• Oversee environmental compliance programs for regulated waste, stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, and spill prevention.
• Develop and deliver employee safety training programs and curricula for regulatory programs.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual EH&S reports for leadership.
• Travel to Company locations to lead audits, investigations, and training across sites.
