Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to lead EH&S programs across a growing multi-site network. The role partners with Operations, Fleet, HR, and site leadership to strengthen workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

The ideal candidate has 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience, familiarity with OSHA/EPA/DOT rules, and a track record mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5-7+ years of progressive EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, audits, and investigations.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations; experience with medical waste programs.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, OSHA 30-Hour; CSP a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regs.
• Design and lead safety inspections and audits.
• Investigate injuries, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee regulated medical waste and environmental programs.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual compliance reports.
