Job Summary
Monitors changes, updates, and emerging trends related to learning management systems and educational technologies and assists with assessing their potential impact on the University’s instructional environment. Provides recommendations, guidance, and training to support the effective adoption and continued use of educational technology systems.
Administers the Canvas Faculty Certification process by enrolling and evaluating new and existing faculty in the Canvas Certification Course. Maintains accurate records of faculty completion and certification to ensure compliance with university requirements and appropriate access to courses within the LMS . Provides additional training, consultation, and individualized support as needed to promote faculty readiness and effective use of instructional technologies. Develops, coordinates, and delivers training sessions, informational presentations, workshops, and professional development opportunities focused on the Canvas Learning Management System ( LMS ) and related educational technology tools. Provides training to faculty through scheduled training events, monthly sessions, individual consultations, and other professional development activities. Evaluates training needs and develops resources and instructional materials to address emerging technologies, system changes, and identified areas of need.
This position requires evening and weekend work to provide technical support to end users, perform system maintenance, software upgrades, and emergency troubleshooting. Performs other educational technology, training, support, implementation, and administrative duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field, OR a minimum of five years of experience working within an educational technology technical support area
2. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize those tasks effectively
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear technical documentation and knowledge base articles
5. Excellent computer skills
6. Ability to work with diverse individuals of various backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s degree
2. One to two years of related experience and/or training in faculty training and development
3. Knowledge of higher education instructional technologies, accessibility standards, online learning environments and faculty training
4. Skill in installation, trouble-shooting and maintenance of technology hardware and software systems related to learning management systems ( LMS )
