Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Non‑Conventional Machining Engineer (EDM / Laser) for our Asheville, North Carolina facility. This onsite role focuses on owning technical activities across the manufacturing area, coordinating with tooling suppliers, and implementing new parts and processes.

The position requires a solid background in nonconventional machining, hands-on manufacturing capability, and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all management levels

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Experience managing capital equipment projects.
• Experience managing new part and process implementations.
• Experience with nonconventional machining process development.
• Hands-on manufacturing know-how and advanced problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Own all technical aspects of the assigned manufacturing area; coordinate with machine tool builders on technical requirements.
• Collaborate with vendors on durable and perishable tool design; own the result.
• Write part-specific CNC programs when needed and support production implementation.
• Develop detailed work instructions for processes within the designated area.
• Participate in PPAP/MRL activities for the assigned area.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives and improve cell layouts.
• Oversee new capital implementation and new part introduction.
• Create data visualizations and data reports.
