Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Non-Conventional Machining Engineer (EDM/Laser) to drive continuous improvements in the Cooling Hole Production at the Asheville site. You will own technical aspects of the manufacturing area, coordinate with tool builders, work with vendors on tool design, and develop CNC programs when needed.

Required are a engineering degree with 5+ years relevant experience (3+ years with advanced degree) and experience with nonconventional machining. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering technical field or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or 3 years with an advanced degree.
• Experience managing capital equipment projects.
• Experience managing new part and process implementations.
• Experience with nonconventional machining process development.
• Hands-on manufacturing know-how and advanced problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Own all technical aspects of the assigned manufacturing area.
• Coordinate with machine tool builders on technical requirements.
• Work with vendors on durable and perishable tool design.
• Own the result.
• Write part specific CNC programs when needed.
• Support production implementation.
• Develop detailed work instructions for processes within designated area.
• Participate in PPAP/MRL activities related to assigned manufacturing area.
• Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and support improvements in cell layouts.
• New capital implementation.
• New part introduction.
• Create data visualizations and data reports.
