Job summary

Odin Labs, Inc. is hiring a Senior Platform Engineer — Edge Systems to build software connecting jobsites to Odin's cloud. You’ll shape and lead edge integrations, ensuring reliable data flows from cameras and devices to the platform for product teams.

You will design local processing, handle intermittent networks, and own edge‑to‑cloud data pipelines, contributing to scalable, secure, and observable systems used across job sites.

Qualifications

• Built and operated production software on Linux-based or equivalent hardware outside cloud.
• Designed for intermittent connectivity, bounded compute/storage, and remote diagnosis.
• Integrated software with third‑party hardware, device protocols, or real‑time streams.
• Understood device-to-cloud networking: connection lifecycle, retries, and synchronization.
• Led a substantial platform or distributed-systems project from design to production.
• Directed engineers through delivery, ensuring cohesive, reliable results.
• Broadly skilled across backend, cloud infra, delivery, observability, and security.
• Defined health and reliability metrics and diagnosed complex failures.
• Made technical tradeoffs with clear explanations and adaptable plans.
• Communicated technical plans and incident updates clearly.

Responsibilities

• Shape and lead Edge Systems projects from defined problem to production.
• Design, build, and operate software on edge controllers connecting cameras and site hardware to Odin's platform.
• Build real-time data integrations and enforce contracts to keep vendor behavior out of product apps.
• Ingest and process video/event data locally with buffering, storage, and recovery for intermittent connectivity.
• Design cloud services for edge data, ensuring security and cost efficiency.
• Create deploy/runbooks and enable other engineers to operate and extend systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive incident resolution improvements.
• Visit jobsites to understand workflows and translate them into platform tradeoffs.
