Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks a Principal Engineer for the Workers Deploy & Config team, the senior technical leader responsible for a serverless edge developer platform. You will drive architectural strategy, scale distributed systems, and guide cross‑team execution to deliver globally accessible developer tools and APIs.

You will mentor engineers, shape roadmaps with Product leadership, and own reliability benchmarks as traffic grows across multiple regions.

Qualifications

Deep experience with Go in production environments.
Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
Experience with Kubernetes and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
Proven history architecting large distributed infrastructures in live environments.
Track record of owning architecture across multiple teams from concept to global release.
Strong standards-setting and cross-team collaboration abilities.
Design focus on RESTful APIs and developer experience.
Experience applying AI-assisted development and agentic workflows.

Responsibilities

Lead architectural evolution of the Workers control plane and define multi-year strategy.
Identify high-leverage technical challenges and chart actionable paths.
Re-engineer core services to handle exponential traffic growth.
Architect foundational primitives to unlock product capabilities.
Own stability and efficiency of core customer-facing systems.
Set benchmarks for API responsiveness, availability, and reliability.
Participate in on-call to maintain global platform availability.
Collaborate with Product and engineering leadership on roadmaps.
Represent Workers Deploy & Config in major design forums.
Mentor mid-level and senior engineers to raise engineering standards.
Investigate emerging technologies to improve the developer platform.
