Job summary

Odin Labs, Inc. is hiring a Lead Platform Engineer to anchor the platform team and own Odin’s digital infrastructure and field hardware. You will be the end-to-end technical owner, ensuring reliability and velocity across services used by product engineering teams.

You will shift security and stability left, lead triage and postmortems, and mentor engineers while keeping the system running at scale. This role emphasizes on-call leadership and hands-on coding in a high-impact environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems and platform engineering for production infra.
• Infrastructure as code with review discipline akin to application code.
• Backend depth in a modern TypeScript ecosystem; you still write production code.
• Hands-on with production field devices or hardware ecosystems.
• Reliability and developer experience are core products you own.
• Calm under pressure; lead incidents and triage effectively.
• Track record mentoring engineers and raising craft.
• Strong written and verbal communication in architecture reviews and runbooks.
• Ability to learn quickly across domains and adapt to new tech.
• AI is used to accelerate engineering while maintaining code quality.

Responsibilities

• Own bounded services that form the platform; design, build, and operate them with infrastructure-as-code.
• Lead hardware operations; define provisioning and fleet management to Odin’s standards.
• Build monitoring and alerting to catch problems early and keep platform state clear.
• Own escalation path for infrastructure incidents; run postmortems to improve systems.
• Take turn on call; structure and scale rotations for team welfare.
• Write runbooks and automate repetitive tasks to enable others.
• Improve CI, deployments, environment management, and developer experience.
• Mentor through code reviews and incident response; raise the bar for the team.
• Gain first-hand knowledge of customer workflows by visiting jobsites and observing usage.
