Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years of progressive responsibility in economic development functions.
• Bachelor’s degree with major course work in Real Estate, Finance, Public Administration or related field.
• Combination of relevant education and experience accepted: Yes
• Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
• Must obtain and maintain a Mecklenburg County Operator's Permit
• Certified Economic Developer through IEDC preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in the development of economic business plans for public improvement, redevelopment projects and private companies
• Assist in creating strategies for development of economic development policies including small business development, workforce development, and investment attraction
• Establish and maintain relationships with partner organizations including non-profits, governmental units, associations and trade groups
• Monitor and manage activities impacting economic development projects
• Lead in attracting domestic and international businesses and coordinate retention/expansion efforts
• Lead in small business development initiatives and related projects
• Lead marketing of emerging technology and economic development
• Analyze data and make recommendations including strategic planning and implementation
• Analyze real estate investment and job investment projects
• Lead negotiation and development of contracts with private developers and corporations
