Job summary

Vance County, NC is seeking an Economic Development Director to lead promotional and consultative work for expanding and retaining industry within the county.

The role involves developing data-driven insights, coordinating with local officials, community leaders, and industry executives to attract new businesses, and directing programs to promote industrial growth while managing budget and staff under the County Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Community Development, Public Administration, Economics, Marketing, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience implementing economic development strategies or an equivalent mix of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Serves as initial contact for potential industries and coordinates site visits and meetings.
• Develops marketing tools for economic development (brochures, flyers, website, ads).
• Develops a network of contacts to identify parks and sites and monitor projects.
• Identifies grants and funding sources to support infrastructure improvements and coordinates with state and federal agencies.
• Maintains records on sites, buildings, labor statistics, and demographics; reports growth and statistics.
• Supervises administrative staff and contributes to budget planning and department goals.
• Serves as staff resource to the Economic Development Commission and presents to county commissioners.
