Job summary

Mitigation Resources is seeking an experienced Construction Earthwork Estimator to bid and coordinate earthwork projects from conception to completion. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for excavation, grading, and other earth-moving activities by analyzing blueprints, specs, and site conditions, including labor, equipment, and material costs.

The role requires collaboration with engineers, contractors, and clients to develop plans, schedules, and budgets, while ensuring safety compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred but not required.
• At least five years of direct work experience in the excavation and grading industry.
• Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of construction processes.
• Time management to meet fixed deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with vendors and clients.

Responsibilities

• Assess financial, technical, and operational risk and decide on bid eligibility.
• Conduct complex risk analyses and produce reports.
• Forecast using data analysis and metrics.
• Visit construction sites to gather project information.
• Interpret proposals, specs, blueprints, and documents to understand scope.
• Coordinate bid process with vendors and subcontractors with the project manager.
• Review contracts and subcontracts for compliance and feasibility.
• Estimate labor, materials, and costs to determine total project costs.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and client updates.
• Provide quantity takeoffs for detailed material lists and cost estimates.
• Perform quality assurance and enforce safety policies.
• Review land restoration opportunities and post-project profitability analyses.
• Travel to sites as needed (up to 30%).
