  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred but not required.
  • At least five years of direct work experience in the excavation and grading industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of construction processes.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the financial, technical, and operational risk of the project and input into bid decisions.
  • Conduct complex risk analyses and produce reports.
  • Visit construction sites to collect project-required information.
  • Estimate time, labor, materials, and product costs for overall construction cost.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for bidding and coordinating earthwork projects from conception to completion, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and profitability. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for excavation, grading, and other earth-moving activities by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and site conditions, while factoring in labor, equipment, and material costs. The individual collaborates with engineers, contractors, and clients to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and aids in the management of on-site operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and timelines. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and a deep understanding of construction processes are essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing project demands and resolve issues effectively.Job Description:ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Assess the financial, technical, and operational risk of the project, including input into the decision on whether to bid on the projectConduct complex risk analysis activities and produce associated reportsPerform complex analysis of collected data and metrics and prepare relevant and reliable forecastsVisit construction sites to obtain the necessary project-required informationEvaluate proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to understand the projectWork closely with the construction project manager to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractorsReview contracts, subcontracts, and agreements to ensure compliance with project requirements, risk mitigation, and financial feasibilityEstimate time, labor, materials, and product costs to determine the overall cost of construction projectsProduce written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managersProvide accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costsProvide quality assurance and quality control of construction activitiesImplement and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and increase employee safety awarenessReview public and private land restoration and reclamation opportunitiesPrepare post-project analyses of estimated vs. actual costs and profitabilityOther duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related fieldProfessional Engineer (P.E.) preferred but not requiredAt least five years of direct work experience in the excavation and grading industry – project estimation or construction management requiredStrong analytical skills combined with a deep understanding of construction processesTime management skills to work on fixed deadlinesWell-developed written and verbal communication skills - candidate will be required to liaise with vendors and clients and write and present comprehensive reportsStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical skillsPositive attitude and team-centered approach to problem-solvingProven track record of meeting deadlinesMust be able to work independentlyAbility to travel to sites as needed, up to 30% travel may be requiredANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITIONIndicate Frequency* and describe job duties that require physical demands:Occasionally (0 – 1/3 of workday): walking (copy machine, printer, meetings, filing, visit employees’ office); lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 35 lbs.
