Job summary

Allen Control Systems in Mountain View, CA, seeks a Senior Dynamics & Structural Analysis Engineer to lead analyses of highly dynamic electromechanical systems for defense applications. You will own simulation, prediction, and validation of structural performance under firing loads, recoil, vibration, and other extreme conditions, collaborating with mechanical, controls, and test teams.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of FE experience, strong background in dynamics and fatigue, and proficiency

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience developing complex electromechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Expert knowledge of finite element methods; dynamics, vibration, shock, fatigue, and structural mechanics.
• Experience using ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, Nastran, or similar tools.
• Experience correlating simulation with physical testing.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform linear and nonlinear finite element analyses of complex electromechanical systems.
• Model transient dynamic events including motion, recoil, firing loads, impact, drop events, transportation loads, and shock environments.
• Work alongside mechanical designers from concept to production to implement design improvements from simulations.
• Clearly communicate complex structural and dynamic behavior to multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct engineering trade studies balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and durability.
• Write clear test and analysis reports documenting objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
