Job summary

Amazon Prime Air Drone Vehicle Design and Test team within Flight Sciences seeks a Vehicle Configuration Design Engineer to rapidly configure, design, analyze, prototype, and test innovative drone vehicles. You will create conceptual level configurations and layouts that integrate all subsystems and meet vehicle level requirements.

You will model internal subsystems, major structural elements, and the OML of the vehicle, feeding designs into MDO tools to size the vehicle and mature the design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in air or space vehicle configuration design and integration.
• Vehicle level design intuition and ability to operate & analyze at the system-of-systems level.
• Proficient in CATIA/3DX.
• Proficient in surfacing/lofting.

Responsibilities

• Design conceptual level vehicle configurations and layouts that integrate subsystems and meet vehicle level requirements.
• Model internal subsystems and major structural elements of the vehicle.
• Feed designs into multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO/MDAO) tools to size the vehicle.
• Prototype vehicle designs and support wind tunnel and other testing of vehicle designs.
• Collaborate across all vehicle subsystem teams to ensure integrated designs that meet performance, reliability, operability, manufacturing, and cost requirements.
