Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist for Prime Air Flight Sciences Vehicle Design & Test in Seattle. You will develop, maintain, and apply optimization tools across aircraft disciplines, to explore innovative drone configurations and meet stringent performance goals.

You will prototype vehicle designs, support wind tunnel tests, and collaborate across teams to ensure feasible, cost-effective solutions for rapid delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics and 7+ years experience or equivalent.
• Experience with flight vehicle design, simulation, and development.

Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and maintain a suite of multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) tools across all aircraft design disciplines.
• Explore new and novel drone vehicle conceptual designs in focused and wide design spaces to meet customer requirements.
• Prototype vehicle designs and support wind tunnel and other testing of vehicle designs.
• Support the Office of the Chief Program Engineer and work closely with vehicle subsystem teams to ensure integrated designs that meet performance, reliability, operability, manufacturing, and cost requirements.
• Own the Flight Sciences assessments and analysis methods as the drone vehicle design progresses through development stages.
