Job summary

Amazon Prime Air is seeking a Vehicle Configuration Design Engineer to rapidly configure and analyze drone vehicle designs, integrating subsystems to meet vehicle level requirements. You will prototype concepts, support wind tunnel tests, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, manufacturability, and cost targets.

You will model subsystems and feed multi-disciplinary optimization tools to mature designs, contributing to the Office of the Chief Program Engineer efforts

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in air or space vehicle configuration design and integration.
• Vehicle level design intuition and ability to operate & analyze at the system-of-systems level.
• Proficient in CATIA/3DX.
• Proficient in surfacing/lofting.
• Preferred: Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing engineering degree; wind tunnel experience; propeller/rotor design; MDO/MDAO tools; rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Design conceptual level vehicle configurations and layouts integrating subsystems and meeting vehicle requirements.
• Model internal subsystems, major structural elements, and vehicle OM L.
• Prototype vehicle designs and support wind tunnel and testing activities.
• Work with cross-functional vehicle subsystem teams to ensure performance, reliability, operability, manufacturing and cost targets.
