Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Control Systems Senior Engineer to join the Drivetrain Controls System Simulation and Validation (DCSSV) organization in Mossville, IL. You will own drivetrain brake controls software development and validation for harsh mining and construction environments.

The role emphasizes systems thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering robust, scalable solutions from concept through production readiness, with onsite work at Mossville five days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering curriculum; Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Computer, or Agricultural Engineering are preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with systems thinking.
• Experience applying systems engineering to drive control software and validation.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, implementation, and validation of drivetrain control software for low-power brake systems.
• Provide ownership and stewardship of legacy technologies, ensuring reliability and compliance.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and validation teams for system integration.
• Apply systems engineering to balance performance, durability, cost, and maintainability across brake controls.
• Drive process improvements and best practices in controls development and validation.
