Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer to design, plan, and provide technical oversight of drilling programs across its global exploration portfolio. You will translate exploration goals into hole designs, execution plans, and cost-optimized operations, reporting to the VP Field Operations.

You will lead multiple projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with Geologists, Data Scientists, and HSE to ensure safe, high-quality data collection across diverse geographies.

Qualifications

• Undergrad or Masters in Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, Geological or Electrical engineering with 7+ years drilling exp.
• Fully competent in standard drilling techniques and diamond core operations
• Advanced understanding of construction methods for drilling programs
• Experience with helicopter-supported exploration drilling and safety
• Proficiency in hole design and analysis software tools
• Strong procurement knowledge: RFPs, bids, vendor mgmt
• English language required; French a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead hole design and rig spec for complex exploration drilling programs
• Develop drilling execution plans: scope, cost, schedules, risk, procurement
• Design detailed drilling programs: casing, torque, drag, directional drilling, mud
• Perform root cause analyses on downhole failures
• Mentor two junior drilling engineers
• Oversee contractor performance and safety during operations
• Lead post-program reviews and develop drilling standards
