Job summary

KoBold Metals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Scientific Computing, to apply software engineering and ML to remote sensing, drillhole, imaging, and geophysics data to build scalable ML systems for fast, high-quality decisions.

As part of a collaborative team of data scientists and geologists, you will develop production-grade libraries, prototype in Jupyter, and help advance the modern scientific computing stack for mineral exploration worldwide.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering, data science, or ML experience.
• Production-grade data processing or tooling delivering business value.
• Proficiency with ML concepts including traditional and deep learning.
• Experience with physical-world data: measurements, instrumentation, imagery, or geophysical data.
• Ability to visualize scientific data for domain experts.
• Collaborative, cross-disciplinary teamwork with data scientists, geoscientists, and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain foundational scientific computing libraries for mineral exploration analyses.
• Integrate third-party tooling into repeatable data pipelines.
• Build ML experimentation and evaluation frameworks to accelerate progress.
• Debug across binaries, formats, and deployed instrumentation.
• Coach and apply engineering best practices for robust, testable code.
• Collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, and engineers to shape the computing stack.
• Occasional travel to exploration sites to observe impact and guide technology development.
