Job summary

ECS Group is seeking a field drilling technician to operate Geoprobe and drilling equipment in Louisiana, collect soil and CPT data, and ensure accurate field records. You will work with the team to maintain safety and quality standards while supporting project goals.

The role requires hands-on experience, ability to lift heavy load, and willingness to travel or work non-standard schedules as needed. Training and mentorship opportunities are available within a collaborative field team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5–8 years of field experience preferred.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to lift 40–70 lbs multiple times daily; up to 85 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform penetrometer testing with boring and Geoprobes.
• Operate Geoprobe unit for soil and CPT data collection.
• Conduct drilling operations (rotary, churn, pneumatic); monitor progress; adjust bit weight/speed; change bits; remove debris.
• Locate borings in the field and record all drilling data.
• Report project issues to the project manager or supervisor.
• Maintain drill rigs and support trucks; report repairs to Drilling Supervisor.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems.
• Load drill rig and supplies safely each day.
• Plan daily schedules to meet productivity goals.
• Complete time sheets and field paperwork promptly.
• Maintain and clean company vehicles and drilling equipment.
• Train and mentor Drilling Helper and Drillers.
• Maintain safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.
• Willingness to work out of town and non-standard schedules.
