Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in the United States seeks a Senior Driller to lead advanced geotechnical drilling on field projects, mentoring junior staff and ensuring safe, efficient operations. This role involves independent work and out-of-town assignments with client-focused service.

You will operate Geoprobe and rotary drilling equipment, collect subsurface data, maintain rigs, and ensure safety and environmental compliance while delivering high-quality information to clients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Class A CDL drivers license is preferred.
• If driving for ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with GPS systems.
• Hands-on experience with drill rigs, push rigs, drilling procedures, and sampling methods.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude, including hydraulic repairs.
• Ability to read maps, follow directions, and interpret field data.
• Advanced knowledge of drilling procedures and sampling methods.
• Familiarity with state and federal driving and drilling regulatory requirements.
• Ability to travel overnight and work non-standard schedules as required.

Responsibilities

• Performs drilling operations, including borings and Geoprobe work.
• Operates Geoprobe equipment to collect soil samples and CPT data.
• Operates rotary, churn, and pneumatic drilling equipment and adjusts parameters.
• Monitors drilling progress and maintains equipment.
• Lays out boring positions using maps, plans, or GPS.
• Records drilling data accurately and timely.
• Reports issues to Project Manager or Supervisor.
• Maintains drill rigs and support vehicles; reports repairs.
• Troubleshoots mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
• Loads equipment with supplies and plans daily activities to meet goals.
• Completes timesheets and field documentation promptly.
• Submits field reports and data per standards.
• Cares for and cleans equipment and vehicles.
• Maintains professional behavior and safety standards.
• Trains and mentors Driller Helpers and Drillers.
• Maintains a safe, compliant work environment.
