Job summary

Allen County Surveyor’s Office in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Chief Project Manager to direct biweekly project manager meetings and oversee stormwater infrastructure projects across the county.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or construction background, strong communication skills, and experience with road design, drainage and construction management; you will prepare plans, manage bids, contracts, and coordinate with the Drainage Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or related field and five years of site development or heavy construction experience.
• Understanding of civil engineering tech, road design, stormwater management, soils and materials properties.
• Knowledge of roadway construction, site development, and construction management/inspection.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of surveying and ability to use surveying equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct biweekly project manager meetings to ensure critical path design and scheduling goals.
• Inspect, supervise, and manage stormwater infrastructure for the County Surveyor’s Office.
• Investigate drainage issues and evaluate solutions through design, bid, build processes.
• Prepare plans, specs, cost estimates, and bid documents for construction lettings and quotes.
• Administer contracts: progress pay estimates, change orders, and quantity payments.
• Review plans for constructability, watershed impacts, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with Drainage Board, public notifications, and project presentations.
