Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County seeks a design management professional to oversee projects and provide technical engineering support across transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater initiatives in Marion County.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee projects in the design management section and provide technical engineering assistance for transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects in Marion County.
• Manage design of local, federal, multi-modal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects; interpret design specifications and plans.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate design management activities to meet budgets and statutory requirements.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure alignment with city standards and FHWA guidelines.

Job description

Position responsible for overseeing projects in the design management section and providing technical engineering assistance related to design management activities for transportation, environmental, traffic and stormwater projects throughout Marion County.Design management of local, federal, multi-modal, transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.
Design specification and plan interpretation, scheduling, and planning related to infrastructure projects.
Ensures that all design management activity is performed on schedule, within budgetary limits, and in accordance with current statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.

Possession of Professional Engineer license in the state of Indiana is preferred, but not required. The position requires extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications as they relate to construction of City infrastructure. The position requires excellent oral and written skills in addition to excellent conflict resolution skills.

Duties performed in a standard office environment, outdoors, and in a vehicle, involving standing/walking, walking on uneven terrain, close and far vision, reaching, bending at waist, and exposure to varying weather conditions and physical hazards normally associated with construction sites.
