Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks a Senior Drainage/Hydraulics Engineer for our Mid Atlantic Region, based in Springfield, VA or Virginia Beach, VA. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a valid PE, and 10+ years of drainage/water resources experience for transportation projects.

Responsibilities include data collection, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, design of stormwater systems, permitting, OpenRoads Designer work, and mentoring junior staff across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 10+ years of drainage/water resources experience for transportation projects.
• Valid Professional Engineering licensure required.
• Experience with multiple design and analysis software as listed.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze data for project plans and reports.
• Design stormwater and storm drain systems using engineering software.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation projects.
• Prepare and obtain local/state permits.
• Assist in project planning using OpenRoads Designer.
• Contribute to scopes, reports, and calculations for diverse projects.
• Prepare construction details, quantities, costs, and specifications.
• Review plans and documents for compliance with requirements.
• Assist with project schedules and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Oversee design activities, mentor junior staff, and support business development.
