Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Donor Relations Director (DRD) to lead major gifts efforts within the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division. The DRD will manage a caseload of 150 qualified major donors, securing gifts typically starting at $5,000 and higher, while expanding giving and strengthening existing support.

This full-time exempt role requires proven major gifts success, exceptional writing and presentation skills, and the ability to travel regularly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of five years’ experience in a non-profit fundraising role with a proven track record of major gifts success.
• Must embrace, support, and reflect well on The Salvation Army’s mission and values through one’s professional responsibilities and behavior at all times.
• Effective interpersonal, conversational and presentation skills, demonstrating emotional intelligence, situational awareness, excellent writing abilities and strong case development and pitching skills.

Responsibilities

• Establishes, manages and fulfills a caseload communications plan with individual fundraising goals and strategies.
• Manages a caseload of 150 major donors and follows an agreed cultivation plan.
• Meet annual activity metrics, benchmarks, and income production goals for donor touchpoints.
• Lead one-to-one in-person solicitation and stewardship communications, traveling as necessary.
• Collaborates with leadership volunteers and staff to develop donor profiles for moves management strategies.
• Keeps management informed with contact reports and up-to-date donor itineraries.
