Job summary

Leidos Defense is seeking a cleared Senior Wide Area Network (WAN) Engineer to design, operate, and sustain long-haul transport and routing for DoD networks. This role centers on BGP design, peering, and policy across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and DISN, ensuring availability and STIG compliance worldwide.

You will lead complex WAN troubleshooting, oversee circuit migrations, and maintain authoritative topology diagrams. Travel and on-call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Clearance: Top Secret with ability to obtain SCI prior to start date.
• 8+ years of hands-on enterprise WAN engineering and operations.
• DoD DoW/ DISA experience and US citizenship required.
• BGP expertise with eBGP/iBGP, route policy, and peering.
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT II certification plus CCNP/ JNCIP-SP or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain BGP routing across the enterprise WAN.
• Escalation authority for complex WAN faults and performance issues.
• Coordinate circuit installations, migrations, and site cutovers with rollback plans.
• Develop routing policy standards and authoritative network docs.
• Configure QoS and TE for critical command and control traffic.
• Apply DISA STIGs and support RMF/IAVA remediation.
• Collaborate with DISA, NOC/SOC, and providers for maintenance and outages.
• Monitor WAN health with SolarWinds, NetFlow; provide capacity trends.
• Manage Type 1 encryptors and key management for secure connectivity.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in governance boards.
