Job summary

RTX seeks a Principal System Administrator to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable IT infrastructure for classified programs in a high-security DoD environment. You will work onsite in Pelham with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant, resilient operations.

Role requires DoD clearance, strong Linux/Windows experience, and expertise in VMware, AD, MySQL, and network administration. Expect occasional after-hours work and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience with minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 3 years prior relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date; U.S. citizenship required for clearance eligibility.
• Must have Linux or Windows experience and server architectures troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, networking administration.
• Experience with secure system configurations, system hardening, and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Red Hat 8 & 9 Enterprise Linux environment.
• Utilize virtualization and containerization technologies including VMware vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, ESXi, KVM, Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Collaborate with engineers, software developers, systems administrators, storage, networking, and HPC teams to resolve infrastructure and integration challenges.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DFARS, RMF, and NIST CSF.
• Provide on-site support for mission systems in a closed DoD area with occasional travel up to 10%.
