Job summary

ERG is seeking a senior engineer to lead DoD/U.S. Navy energetics facility design and construction efforts at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head, MD.

You will guide design, review, and integration across HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and safety disciplines to support energetics manufacturing, testing, and processing environments. The role requires DoD UFC and NAVSEA standards familiarity, strong project management, and the ability to coordinate with stakeholders to ensure safety, schedule,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 20+ years of relevant experience in DoD/U.S. Navy facilities supporting energetics manufacturing, processing, testing, storage, handling, or explosives operations.
• Strong understanding of DoD UFC, NAVSEA Instructions, and explosives facility design requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee engineering teams supporting design, construction and commissioning of energetics facility renovation projects.
• Provide technical oversight of facility designs including equipment, utilities, material flow, production areas, and facility interfaces.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, structural, fire protection, civil) to support energetics operations.
• Ensure facilities address safety and facility requirements for energetics and explosives manufacturing and processing.
• Support development and review of design packages for new construction, facility modifications, and renovations.
• Conform designs to DoD UFC, NAVSEA Instructions, and relevant regulations and standards.
• Support review of submittals per DoD, Navy, and ERG QC requirements.
• Review designs for constructability, maintainability, safety, and compatibility with existing operations.
• Coordinate with clients, process engineers, manufacturing, safety professionals, construction teams, and stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Fulfill client expectations for quality, schedule, and cost.
• Support site visits, facility assessments, design reviews, and technical meetings at DoD/Navy facilities.
