Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Senior Portfolio Item Manager in Tampa to lead a portfolio of DoD material assets, overseeing lifecycle management, readiness, and strategic supply availability. You will apply advanced logistics expertise and coordinate with program managers, depots, and finance to sustain asset readiness while ensuring compliant, secure operations.

The role requires an active SECRET clearance on day one, with a strong background in LIS, DoD programs, and large-scale project

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in logistics management, supply chain, or a business-related field.
• Current project management certification.
• Two to three years of demonstrated experience leading medium- to large-scale projects.
• At least 10 years of combined experience supporting DoD or federal agencies across multiple disciplines.
• At least three years of item management experience.
• At least three years of Major Command or Headquarters staff experience.
• At least five years of LIS usage.
• Five years of government or civilian project lead experience.
• DAU Lifecycle Logistics Level I certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of assigned items throughout the material lifecycle including forecasting, requirements, acquisition planning, sustainment, inventory management, and disposal coordination.
• Analyze inventory levels, demand history, supply status, repair activity, and readiness impacts to identify material risks and corrective actions.
• Use LIS to maintain item records, research, monitor transactions, and develop portfolio management recommendations.
• Develop and execute strategies to improve supply availability, reduce backorders, mitigate shortages, and optimize inventory investment.
• Lead medium- to large-scale logistics or supply chain projects from initiation through closeout.
• Establish project plans, schedules, milestones, action-item trackers, and risk mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with program managers, product support, depot and maintenance, finance, contracting, and other stakeholders.
• Provide senior-level analyses, recommendations, briefings, and executive correspondence.
