Job summary

ICON Prime seeks an entrepreneurial Associate Business Development Director to expand the defense business across MILCON and MilTech with substantial autonomy to shape and close complex government opportunities.

The role requires a defense background, proven success in winning federal contracts, and the ability to navigate Pentagon pathways while aligning ICON’s capabilities with top-priority requirements. Washington, DC-based with up to 30% travel.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in DoD or military construction BD, with a track record of closing federal contracts
• Experience with federal agencies, DoD orgs, or military construction projects and contracting processes
• Deep fluency in FAR/DFARS, OTAs, IDIQs, and defense procurement pathways
• Excellent verbal and written communication for government stakeholders and teams
• Exceptional relationship-building with government agencies and federal stakeholders
• Proven ability to engage senior DoD stakeholders at the Pentagon or major command
• Knowledge of UFC and military design standards
• Entrepreneurial mindset with startup-speed execution
• Ability to travel up to 30% for meetings and events
• Bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business development strategy to expand ICON Prime7s presence across DoD and services
• Build and maintain a federal pipeline and engage with program offices early to shape opportunities
• Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders at USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, DIU, AFWERX
• Lead capture end-to-end from validation to proposal revisions and negotiations
• Pursue design-build, OTA, and IDIQ opportunities including base infrastructure projects
• Deliver briefings and capability narratives for senior officials and industry events
• Conduct market intelligence and competitive analysis to guide strategy
• Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Regulatory to align solutions with UFC and service requirements
• Maintain pipeline data in HubSpot and support growing BD/proposal teams
